A tutorial for non-SEPA (basically non-EU) customers to learn how to quickly and easily bank transfer using Wise (formerly TransferWise).

As you may have seen, we are now accepting bank transfer for products sold on 1CPLSD.COM — but only for those banking in the SEPA zone.

UK and US (and other non-EU) based customers may be thinking, ‘well, this is useless because I don’t live in the SEPA zone!’

Wrong! Just because you’re not physically in the SEPA zone, it doesn’t mean you can’t bank like you are — and that is exactly what we’re going to teach non-SEPA customers to do.

What is the SEPA zone?

SEPA — Single Euro Payments Area — is a payment-integration initiative of the European Union for simplification of bank transfers denominated in Euro. Consisting of 36 countries (mostly eurozone countries), the SEPA zone enables customers within it to make cross-border electronic payments that are as inexpensive and easy as domestic payments.

Unfortunately, the US is not in the SEPA zone and the UK is only included for accounts denominated in Euro. So, if this happens to be you, keep on reading!

What if I’m a non-SEPA Customer?

Then don’t you worry! Online banking services such as Wise (formerly TransferWise) and Revolut allow non-SEPA customers to bank as though they are in it.

Wise allows you to open multi-currency accounts and quickly and cheaply transfer from one currency to another.

So, for example, if your main account is in the US, you can transfer from your regular US account into your Wise account, convert these deposited funds into a currency of your choosing, and send them to a local account that banks in that chosen currency.

Still don’t understand? No problem. I’m going to show you exactly how to do it.

Tutorial: Quick and Easy Bank Transfer for Non-SEPA Customers using Wise

The following tutorial will show non-SEPA customers how to pay via Wise for products sold on 1CPLSD.COM.

Most people have an easier time on their phones these days, so this tutorial will include screenshots from the mobile app.

Please note: We have used Wise for the purpose of this tutorial, but there are several other options out there.

Step 1 –

Download and open the Wise app.

Step 2 –

Press the ‘register’ button.

Step 3 –

Enter your email address and create a password.

A verification email will be sent to you.

Step 4 –

It will ask you what you would like to do with your account, just choose ‘decide’ later.

Step 5 –

Now you’re going to want to open a balance, but to do so you’re going to have to share a little more information.

Step 6 –

Next, you will be able to choose which balance or balances you would like to open. I would suggest opening your main currency (e.g. if you’re from the US, you would open ‘US Dollar’) as well as EURO (as this is what you’ll need to buy products from 1CPLSD.COM).

Step 7 –

Great, now that you’ve opened two balances, it’s time to add some money to them.

First, click on your main currency (so, USD or GBP) and press the ‘add’ button.

Step 8 –

Choose how much money you would like to add. You might want to add a chunk of money just so you always have some there, or you might only want to add the amount you’re going to spend.

I always, however, recommend adding a little more than you think you need to cover exchange rate variations and small fees for sending.

So, for the sake of this tutorial, let’s say you’re going to add 5GBP. Delete the amount that is already input, enter the amount you would like, and press ‘continue’.

Step 9 –

Now you get to choose how you’re going to add this money.

The fastest and easiest option would be Apple Pay if you already have that set up — although this option charges a fee, albeit VERY minimal.

If you want to avoid this tiny fee, then the best bet would be to choose ‘manual bank transfer’ or ‘authorise the payment from your bank account’.

If you choose ‘manual bank transfer’, you will be sent to a screen that shows your Wise GBP account details. You should use these details to send a regular bank transfer from your normal bank account (e.g. Natwest, Santander, Barclays, etc).

Adding money to your account should be pretty instant.

Step 10 –

Congratulations, you have successfully added money to your Wise account!

Step 11 –

Now you’ll need to convert the 5GBP into Euro. To do so, go back to your GBP balance and this time, press the button ‘convert’.

Enter the amount you would like to convert, and it will give you a break-down of the exchange and any minimal fees it will charge you for.

Once you’re happy, you can press ‘continue’.

Step 12 –

It will ask you if everything looks right, giving you another chance to check your transaction before committing — press ‘convert now’.

Step 13 –

Success, you now have Euros in your account!

Press ‘got it’.

Step 14 –

Now it’s time to pay for your goods. Go to your Euro balance and press the button ‘send’.

Step 15 –

Choose ‘add a new recipient’.

Step 16 –

Please note: you will needed to have chosen ‘SEPA bank transfer’ when checking out on 1CPLSD.COM for the following steps.

Choose ‘a business / organisation’ and enter the details that were given to you at checkout. Make sure you choose the option ‘inside Europe’.

Press ‘continue’ after double checking details.

Step 17 –

Choose the amount you would like to send — this needs to be the amount shown at checkout.

You will notice that it costs a small fee to send it. Once you’re happy, press ‘continue’.

Step 18 –

On the next page you’ll be able to review all the details before you ‘confirm & send’.

It may also want you to verify your identity before sending, please follow these steps.
